Chesham United

Sat 15th Dec 2012    FA Trophy R2     Chesham United   1-5   Barrow AFC Att: 470
My after-game forum comments:
A very routine victory yesterday against Chesham United. In the first half, played in monsoon conditions (think Eastleigh) Barrow totally dominated proceedings, and it was a case of men against boys. The Chesham goalkeeper was their best player and pulled off a number of fine saves despite conceding two goals. The first one could have been contender for greatest miss of all time as Boyes somehow struck the post from point blank but thankfully it deflected in. The second was a terrific header from McConville, who with many others, turned in an excellent performance.

Chesham came out with renewed vigour in the second half and had some good possession, but their somewhat agricultural centre backs were wrong-footed for Boyes to steal a yard in the box and head easily home. Jackson was felled with a rash tackle for Baker to convert, and Rowe finished off in style with a lovely pass into the back of the net. His turn around from when I first saw him against Woking is quite remarkable. Chesham did manage a consolation between the fourth and fifth with a deflection but they weren't really at the races.
