Forest Green Rovers
The second half was much better. There was more dynamism with Skelts making runs deep into FGR terriitory. A brilliantly worked move resulted in McConville getting his feet mixed up 2metres out and missing an open goal. Thankfully, FGR were under the cosh at this point, and moments later (and many choice comments directed at McConville later) another excellent combination of passes enabled Baker to tuck the ball neatly into the corner.
The pace then really hotted up and between 85-90 minutes with FGR totally on the ropes. Baker curled a great shot against the post and almost got the rebound. McConville went through on goal for a 1-on-1 and the goalkeeper tipped over his cross angle shot. Since there was no back up striker for any potential ricochet, he should probably have drilled it hard and low to the near post.
A thrilling game all told, with Barrow edging it. Stand outs were Harvey (fantastic) and Baker (very good). Shame about Sodje's injury which could be a problem, but it's rare to go to an away match and just enjoy the occasion so much. Oh, and for the attractive lady steward who promised me a copy of the rules that state filming is banned - I'm still waiting, but I'll settle for your phone number instead.
